Final full day, went to Antwerp to explore some of Belgium. Explored the Town Square, ate a waffle and some fries, before coming back and stopping at the old border control building.

After the excitement of the day previous, we spent the following day at the Efteling theme park. Spending time on the rides and with each other, learning new Dutch words on my first ever solo holiday.

Having jumped on a plane just hours after my last exam, I arrived to meet my Dutch friends and the following day we made our way to Düsseldorf, Germany for the final of the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest.

Outside the Arena

Outside the Arena

After having watched the event for 13 years I was finally there, getting to see the show live! And after having been in the audience for the UK preselection show two years earlier, I knew that it would be a totally different experience.

Despite being located far up on the side of the arena, we still had a relatively good view of the goings on below, and could see all the stage movements, as well as the effects of the lights on the whole arena.

After getting some 12 points, each country's fans could be heard cheering in the audience, and it was an amazing experience to be in the audience for a huge live broadcast!

After the show we then had the fun of getting back to the car in the dark...
